Abstract

This study aims to find out how to use Instagram social media as a media for Covid-19 vaccination information in Pekanbaru. The media as a source of information plays an important role in shaping public perceptions and decisions regarding information or news about vaccination in the city of Pekanbaru. The media also has an obligation to educate the public in preventing the spread of the corona virus and how to end this covid-19 pandemic. This study used qualitative research methods with data collection technique used literature studies and data sources from books, journals, websites and newspapers that are relevant to the topic of this research. The results of this study are, firstly, Instagram media can help the government in providing and administering vaccined by providing information related to vaccinations to the people of the city of Pekanbaru. Second, Instagram as an information medium can raise awareness to the public regarding the benefits of giving vaccines, including: a) effectively minimizing the spread of the virus, b) forming antibodies or immunity, c) protecting people around us, and d) creating group immunity (herd immunity). In addition to providing information, Instagram can also motivate the public to be more vigilant and carry out various positive activities while at home to break the chain of distribution so that Indonesia will soon be free from the Covid-19 crisis.
