Abstract

The development of Geographic Information Systems has brought many benefits, one of which is in the field of shipping services. Freight forwarding services are services that provide the means to transport and deliver goods from one location to another. PT Grand Anugerah Surya is a company engaged in the service sector, especially the delivery of goods to the Asahan Regency and its surroundings. The current system does not have a system to track the whereabouts of the packages sent which causes a lack of good integration so that the information received is incomplete or not up to date at each stage of the delivery process. Until now, it is difficult for customers to see or monitor the extent to which the goods have been sent. To overcome this problem, shipping service providers must make technical improvements, improve system integration, ensure data security, and improve customer service to provide accurate and timely information to customers. By implementing a web-based geographic information system at PT Grand Anugerah Surya where this geographic information system can be accessed by senders and recipients to find out the status of the package by entering the receipt number and the system will notify the whereabouts or location of the package. And geographic information systems can make it easier for couriers to find addresses because recipient addresses become more accurate.
