Abstract

Around 60% of natural disasters are natural disasters resulting from extreme climatic events such as floods, droughts, forest fires, strong winds/storms, landslides, high tidal waves and outbreaks of disease. Climate change causes increasing threats to food security, human health, water availability, and also threats to biodiversity. As many as 23 of the 323 regencies/cities in Indonesia are vulnerable to climate change which are characterized by high inundation ratio values, population density values, residential area values and non-settlement area values. The city of Pekanbaru is experiencing climate change which has a significant impact on the people of Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of vulnerability of Pekanbaru City to climate change. The method used to determine the level of vulnerability is the Center for Climate Risk and Opportunity management (CCROM) method. Arc Gis 9.3 software to obtain a map of the vulnerability level of Pekanbaru City. Data analysis was carried out descriptively. The result of calculating the level of vulnerability is that there are 49 sub-districts in Pekanbaru City that are not in the vulnerable category, 6 sub-districts in the rather vulnerable category, namely Kampung Tengah, Rejosari and Sukajadi Sub-Districts, Tenayan Industry, Limapuluh and Tanjung Rhu. There is only one area that is in the vulnerable category, namely Meranti Pandak Village.
