Abstract

The weakness of oil palm plantation management in Indonesia is the lack of sufficient data for managers and owners of oil palm plantations to analyze and evaluate the productivity of their land. Moreover, the owners of oil palm plantations who do not directly manage their oil palm plantations, rely on verbal reports from implementers in the plantations. The existence of continuous data collection produces a large collection of data so that trend data can be used for analysis and evaluation. Based on this background, the existence of an IoT-based palm tree condition monitoring system is important to help collect data easily and can be accessed remotely. This study aims to produce an IoT-based system consisting of data collection devices for oil palm conditions and a data base. The data collection system consists of a QR code scanner, microcontroller, ES8266 module and LCD touch screen. Parameters monitored include number of fruit bunches, number of fruit bunches ready for harvest, condition of leaves and stems, location and time of data entry. The test results of the system show that the ID QR code tag reading system is functioning properly by taking into account the effective distance of reading the QR scanner from the QR code. The process of sending data has also been functioning well with an average time of sending data is 0.797 seconds for 10 attempts to send data.
