Abstract

Abstract

Early childhood education requires continuity between school and family because children’s faith, character, emotional regulation, independence, and social habits are shaped through repeated interactions. This community service program aimed to strengthen parents’ understanding and practical skills in Islamic parenting grounded in compassion (rahmah), gentleness (rifq), exemplary conduct, positive communication, habituation, and non-violent discipline. The activity was conducted at TK Barokah Pekanbaru on 10 July 2026 and involved 65 parents/caregivers. A participatory approach was implemented through interactive presentations, dialogue, case analysis, communication simulations, reflection, and evaluation. The learning materials integrated Qur’anic guidance, particularly QS. Luqman 13–19, prophetic parenting practices, and positive-parenting principles. The activity indicated improved participant understanding in five areas: viewing children as a trust, positioning affection as the foundation of education, using two-way communication and emotional validation, applying firm but non-violent boundaries, and strengthening consistency between home and school. The program also produced the PELU KASIH practical framework—Peluk & Ekspresikan kasih, Luangkan waktu, Keteladanan & Komunikasi, Sabar & Istiqamah, and Hadir sepenuh hati—as a simple guide for families. The findings suggest that Islamic parenting education is more meaningful when religious values are translated into observable daily parenting practices.
