Abstract

Kampung Buatan I faces challenges in managing household organic waste due to limited public knowledge and source-based waste processing practices. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and awareness in utilizing household organic waste by producing eco-enzyme as an environmentally friendly solution. The activity employed an educational and participatory approach through socialization and demonstration of eco-enzyme production. A total of 25 participants attended at the beginning, while 14 participants followed the program until completion, most of whom were housewives directly involved in managing household kitchen waste. The evaluation used pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure participants' understanding of the impact of organic waste, the concept of eco-enzyme, the materials and production process, and their attitudes toward household organic waste processing. The results indicated an improvement in participants' understanding across all indicators. The average level of understanding increased from 53.61% in the pre-test to 96.14% in the post-test. The activity also produced eco-enzyme as a practical example of household organic waste processing. These findings demonstrate that educational socialization and simple demonstrations are effective in improving community knowledge and awareness regarding environmentally friendly household organic waste management.
